Binding Financial Agreements
Drafted for you by lawyers who understand what you have built.
Dexterity Law drafts and reviews BFAs for founders, professionals, and individuals with complex assets. We offer fixed fees, no surprises, and advice that goes beyond the document.
Why us?
Principal-led
Every BFA matter at Dexterity Law is handled by the principal of the firm: a lawyer with magic circle training who has advised on complex commercial and transactional matters throughout their career.
Independent Legal Advice
Whether we are drafting your agreement or reviewing one prepared by your partner's lawyer, our advice is substantive. For review matters, we read the agreement carefully, identify provisions that may not serve your interests, and advise you clearly on what you are agreeing to.
Transparent Fees
Our fees are published on this page. There are no hourly billing surprises, no open-ended engagements, and no ambiguity about scope. You will know exactly what the matter will cost before we begin.
Simple vs complex: A simple BFA involves straightforward assets (property, savings, superannuation).
A complex matter involves business interests, family trusts, investment portfolios, blended family circumstances, or prior relationship assets.
Not sure which applies to you? We will confirm when we speak with you during your free consultation.
What are Binding Financial Agreements (aka Prenups)?
A BFA is a binding legal contract, and it will be scrutinised if a relationship ends. We draft with enforceability in mind from the outset. That means precise asset identification, careful treatment of trust and corporate interests, appropriate disclosure mechanics, and language that will hold up to challenge.
A BFA makes sense any time you are entering a relationship with assets, structures, or interests that predate it, or that you want to keep separate and protected going forward.
Who might need a BFA?
Founders and business owners
Protecting shareholdings, IP, and business value from a future property settlement.
Professionals with accumulated wealth
Doctors, lawyers, and executives entering significant relationships with careers, investments, and assets well established.
Second marriages and relationships
Protecting assets and ensuring children from prior relationships are provided for.
Family wealth and inheritances
Keeping inherited or gifted assets clearly outside the relationship pool.
